As the season rapidly approaches and information has been gathered over the past few weeks, it is hard not to notice how talented the crop of football players in CNY is in 2010. All the information that has been gathered for the 2010 preview was sent to us by the coaching staffs. If we don't have sufficient or any information on a team it is because that teams or coaching staff were unable to be reached or did not respond to our request for information.
Class AA should be wide open and feature some of the best athletes in the state. Can Baldwinsville repeat as sectional champs or will another challenger like RFA, Utica Proctor, CBA, CNS, or Liverpool step to claim the title. Stay tuned it will be a great season in AA football. If you have more information on any of these teams, please send it to bigbluefan32802@yahoo.com.
In class A this season will Whitesboro repete as sectional champs or will another team take the title. ESM seems to be the team to beat in the American but Fulton or Cortland and a few others could have something to say about that. In the National will New Hartford return to power or will Indian River, Carthage, or Camden step up to dethrone them? Class A will be a fun class to keep track of this season as old favorites must deal with some talented challengers.
In class B this season many teams will see if they can knock off Westhill in the West as the East will have to contend with Oneida and Chittenango and the return of Caz and Holland Patent. Solvay and Homer are two teams that always seem to be in the mix but this season don’t count out upstarts like South Jefferson, and Marcellus. A team known in our section for playing great football that could return to the top is VVS. Keep your eyes open in class B as the playoff race will be much tighter this season.
In 2009 General Brown fought their way to a sectional title and a great 10-1 record. Who will step up this season and try to take section III class C to the next level? In the West Bishop Ludden returns the talent to be top dog but the Knights will face some stiff competition from Westmoreland, Adirondack, Frankfort-Schuyler, Mt. Markham, Syracuse Tech, and Notre Dame. All four leagues will see stiff competition for playoff spots this year. Whoever comes out on top will be battle tested for sure as no league is an easy road to the playoffs.
In class D the Westmoreland Bulldogs won the title but return to class C. This season class D is wide open as many perennial playoff teams like Dolgeville, Onondaga, and Weedsport, look to make a run at a sectional title. Don't count out teams like Sandy Creek, Cooperstown, Mohawk, West canada, and Waterville that could also make noise this season and grab a hold of a playoff spot. Class D could be one of the most contested and interesting to watch in 2009.
