The team is about evenly divided between players from the two schools and is starting to play as one unit. In order to be more successful this year the Lancers will need to do a good job of running the ball and stopping the run. Coach Cole believes this season biggest key to success is learning a new system. He said “I believe the key to our success will be how fast we learn and implement a new offensive and defensive system.  We have had some off-season changes in coaching and with a new commitment came a new system that we are committed to.  The quicker the kids buy in and pick up the system the more competitive we will be. As far as this season biggest challenge the bombers must learn to finish what they start. Coach Cole wrote “four of the six losses we had last year we were leading going into the fourth quarter, and made junior mistakes which cost us the game.  Now that all of last year’s starters are now seniors, we have hopefully figured out or will figure out how to minimize these mistakes and have a successful 2010 season.”  Good luck to Ilion this season.

Coach Coffman wrote “we have a lot of solid athletes on the defensive side of the ball.” A newcomer to watch out for on defense is linebacker Soph.
